It’s a Baby Shower!
This Sunday I hosted a baby shower for Patyence my step-mom-in-law. Here are a few pictures from the party.
The food served was a pasta salad made with orzo, peas, shallots and turkey bacon tossed with a lemony mayo. I also made a spinach dip with tortilla chips, deviled eggs, ginger and pineapple teriyake meatballs, turkey and cheese pinwheels and veggie crudities with poppy seed dressing. We served a strawberry and guava punch which was quite tasty too.
I planned a few games for the day. For the first game each lady was given a tiny clothes pin and told that they could not say the word “baby”. If they heard anyone else say the word they could take the pin from the person who said it. The one with the most pins at the end of the day won. In this picture, the ladies concentrating on the Nursery Rhyme Rhetoric game. We played a few others… but I wanted to start them off slowly. The last game was a doozy… more on that later.
The second game was to guess the measurement of Patyence’s belly. After everyone cut the string to the size they though her belly would be, I measured the actually size. Then we measured everyone’s string against the measuring tape. The one with the closest measurement won.
The last game we played was “guess that baby food”. Here the ladies were asked to sit in the “high chair, close their eyes and open their mouth. I fed them the mystery baby food and everyone had to guess which flavor it was.
