The Story Behind Forever Blooms

 There has never been a time in my life when I wasn't drawn to flowers.

As a little girl, one of my favorite memories was watching my father come home with roses. He always brought red roses for my mom, a bouquet in shades of pink or peach just for me, and yellow roses for his mother—my grandmother. It was a simple gesture, but one that left a lasting impression. Long before I understood the language of flowers, I understood what they represented: love, thoughtfulness, celebration, and the many ways we show people they matter.

As I entered adulthood, one of the first little traditions I created for myself was keeping an orchid on my nightstand. Every morning, it was one of the first things I'd see, and I loved the sense of calm and beauty it brought to the room. It was a small detail, but one that became part of my everyday life.

Years later, when the world shut down during the pandemic, those orchids suddenly became difficult to find. I remember thinking, I'll just buy a realistic faux one. It sounded simple enough.
Except every arrangement I found looked... fake.

No matter where I searched, I couldn't find one that felt natural or captured the elegance I loved about real orchids. None of them spoke to me. So I decided to make one myself.

I wasn't trying to start a business. I simply wanted an orchid arrangement that looked beautiful in my own home. I carefully selected each stem, shaped every bloom, and created something that felt true to my style. When I showed it to my family and friends, their reaction surprised me. They loved it.
My brother looked at it and said, "You should sell those."That simple sentence was all the encouragement I needed.

I opened an Etsy shop, and before long, what started as a single orchid arrangement for my own nightstand had grown into Forever Blooms. Over the years, I've had the privilege of creating floral designs for people's homes, special events, and meaningful celebrations—including hand-painting and airbrushing sola wood flowers for my sister-in-law's wedding. Every project has reminded me that flowers have a way of making life's moments feel even more memorable.

Today, Forever Blooms has found its home here at The Yuca Diaries because it has always belonged alongside everything else I love to create. For me, they've always been different expressions of the same thing: creating spaces where people feel welcomed, celebrated, and at home. Food, flowers, home, and gathering around the table aren't separate parts of my life. They're all connected.

Here you'll find floral designs, entertaining inspiration, seasonal arrangements, styling ideas, behind-the-scenes projects, and the stories behind them. Sometimes I'll be working with fresh flowers. Other times, I'll be creating lifelike arrangements using high-quality faux botanicals or hand-painted sola wood flowers. Whatever the project calls for, my goal is always the same: to create designs that feel natural, timeless, and thoughtfully made.

I believe flowers don't have to be reserved for weddings, anniversaries, or milestone celebrations. They belong on the kitchen island while dinner simmers on the stove, on the dining table where family gathers, and on the nightstand where they're the first thing you see each morning. Beauty isn't something we should save for special occasions. Sometimes it's the little things that make everyday life feel special.
